The theme of the song is very different from the book, but just the thing about witchcraft reminds me of the book. Where is My Mind - The Pixies The song "Where is My Mind" reminds me of The Crucible in a way because if I was John Proctor I would be losing my mind living in a crazy town where everyone is accusing everyone of witchcraft.

The Crucible is a study in the mass hysteria which led to the Salem witchcraft trials, concentrating on the fate of some of the key figures caught up in the persecution.

It powerfully depicts people and principles under pressure and the issues and motivations involved. At the same time, it is also a parable for the events of the McCarthy era in the USA of the s 3/5(29).

A crucible is a container made of a substance that can resist great heat ; a crucible is also defined as a severe test.

Within the context of the play the term takes on a new meaning: not only is the crucible a test, but a test designed to bring about change or reveal an individual's true character.

The Crucible takes place in Salem, Massachusetts in The action begins in the home of Reverend Parris, whose daughter Betty lies unconscious and appears very ill. Around midnight the night before, Parris had discovered Betty, his niece Abigail, and Tituba, his black slave, dancing in the woods, causing Betty to swoon.
